Who we are

Butt Talks is operated by Butt Talks, referred to in these terms as we, us and our. You can reach us at support@butttalkstv.com.

By creating an account, joining the waitlist, downloading the guide, or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

Who can use Butt Talks

You must be at least 16 years old to use Butt Talks. The service handles health information and photographs of your own body, and we are not set up to obtain or verify parental consent, so we do not offer accounts to children.

You also confirm that you are using the service for yourself. Do not photograph or log another adult without asking them, and do not create an account on behalf of a child. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will close it and delete the data in it.

You may only use Butt Talks if the law where you live allows you to, and if we have not previously closed your account for breaking these terms.

What exists today

We would rather say this here than let you find out later. The Butt Talks app is not generally available right now. The earlier iOS app was delisted and the app is being rebuilt, so what this website offers today is an early-access list and a free guide.

When you give us your email address, we add it to that list along with the platform you told us you use and which page you came from, and we email you when there is something real to download. We are not promising a launch date, and features described on this site may change before they ship.

You can leave the list at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to support@butttalkstv.com. What we do with that address is set out in the privacy policy.

Your account

Your account holds sensitive things: your logs, your photographs and your history. Keeping it secure matters more here than it does on most apps.

• Give us accurate details when you sign up, and keep them up to date.
• Keep your password and your device secure, and do not share your login.
• You are responsible for what happens under your account, unless someone used it without your permission and you told us as soon as you knew.
• Tell us at support@butttalkstv.com if you think someone else has access to your account.
• One person per account. Accounts are not transferable.

Subscriptions and billing

What we charge for, and what it costs:

• Free costs $0. You can log your poops, use the Bristol type reference and keep a streak without paying us anything.
• Butt Talks Plus costs $9.99/mo and adds unlimited AI photo analysis, full history and trends, and an export you can hand to your doctor. It is a subscription: it renews for the same price each period until you cancel it.
• Nurse Wong 1-on-1 costs $49.99/20 minutes. It is bought one session at a time and is not a subscription.

Purchases through the App Store and Google Play

This is the part people get caught by, so it is worth reading twice. If you buy a subscription inside the iOS app or the Android app, Apple or Google is the merchant for that purchase. Their billing, renewal, cancellation and refund rules apply, not ours.

• Your subscription renews automatically through your Apple or Google account until you cancel it there. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
• You cancel in your Apple or Google account settings, not in Butt Talks. We have no way to cancel a store subscription for you.
• Refunds for store purchases are handled by the store, under the store policy. We cannot issue one, and we cannot overrule a store decision.
• We do not see your card details for a store purchase. The store tells us only that a subscription is active.

If you ever buy directly from us rather than through a store, we will say so clearly at the point of purchase and tell you the cancellation and refund terms before you pay. Prices may change; if we change the price of a subscription you already have, we will tell you before it takes effect and you can cancel.

Taxes may be added depending on where you live. If a payment fails, paid features may be paused until it goes through.

Nurse Wong sessions

A Nurse Wong 1-on-1 booking is a private video session with Nurse Wong RN BSN, who wrote The Power of Pooping. You go through your own logs together and leave with a plan you can actually follow.

Here is what it is not. It is not a medical consultation, an examination, a diagnosis or a prescription. It does not create a nurse and patient relationship, it is not treatment, and it is not covered by insurance. It is educational coaching about digestive health from someone qualified to talk about it.

You still need your own doctor, and a session is never a reason to delay seeing one. If a session raises something that needs clinical attention, the advice will be to see a clinician, and that advice is the point rather than a disappointment.

Sessions are booked for a set time. If you need to move or cancel one, tell us before it starts and we will do our best to rebook you. If you do not show up, we may not be able to give the time back. Sessions are not recorded unless everyone on the call agrees first.

Using Butt Talks: the rules

We ask very little here, and all of it is obvious. Do not use Butt Talks to:

• break the law, or help anyone else break it;
• upload a photograph of another person, or of anybody who has not agreed to it;
• upload sexual content, content involving children, or anything designed to shock rather than to be logged;
• harass, threaten, impersonate or dox anyone, on any of our surfaces;
• sell supplements, cures or treatments to other members, or pass yourself off as a medical professional;
• scrape, resell or redistribute the service, or use it to build a competing product;
• attack the service: reverse engineer it, bypass its limits, probe its security, or automate access to it without our written agreement;
• upload malware, or anything that would put another member at risk.

Your content and the permission we need

Your photographs, your logs and your notes are yours. Uploading them to Butt Talks does not change who owns them, and we do not claim them.

To run the service at all, we do need your permission to handle them. So you give us a limited, worldwide, royalty free permission to store, copy, transmit and display your content, and to send an image to our third-party AI provider for classification, strictly so that we can provide Butt Talks to you. That permission exists for one reason: to show you your own data back and to analyse it at your request.

It does not let us publish your content, sell it, show it to anyone else, or use it in marketing. It is not a licence to train models. The specific promises we make about photographs are set out in the privacy policy and we will not contradict them here.

The permission ends when you delete the content or close your account, apart from copies that remain briefly in routine backups until those are cycled out. You confirm that you have the right to upload whatever you upload.

If you post in the community, or send us feedback, that is different: a post is visible to other members, and feedback about the product we may act on freely without owing you anything for it.

What belongs to us

The Butt Talks name and logo, Butty, the app, this website, the guide, our copy, our illustrations and the software behind all of it belong to us or to the people we licence them from. Using the service does not transfer any of that to you.

You may use the service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy our branding, pass our material off as your own, or republish our content without asking first.

Ending your account

You can stop at any time. Delete your account in the app or write to support@butttalkstv.com, and we will delete your data as described in the privacy policy. If you subscribed through a store, cancel the subscription in that store as well, or it will keep billing you.

We can suspend or close an account if it breaks these terms, if it puts other members or the service at risk, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to warn you first, we will. If we close a paid account for something other than a breach by you, we will refund the unused part of the period you had already paid for, or ask the store to.

We can also stop offering the service, or a part of it. If we do, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your data first.

The sections on your content, our intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law survive the end of your account.

Disclaimers

Butt Talks is provided as it is and as it is available. We work hard on it, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or available everywhere.

In particular, the AI classification is a best effort reading of an image. It can be wrong. A Bristol type, a trend line or a flag is an observation about what you recorded, not a clinical finding, and you should treat it that way. We do not warrant that the analysis is accurate, complete or suitable for any medical purpose, because it is not a medical device and has not been cleared or approved as one by any regulator.

To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some places do not allow that, in which case this section applies to you only as far as your local law permits, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for lost profits or lost data, or for any decision you made about your health because of something the service showed you.

Where we are liable, our total liability for all claims connected to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or fifty US dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else your local consumer law protects.

Changes to these terms

We will update these terms as the product changes, and the version on this page is always the current one. The effective date at the top tells you when it started applying.

If a change is significant, for example a change to pricing, to how we handle your photographs, or to your rights, we will tell you before it takes effect by email or in the app. Carrying on using Butt Talks after that means you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can close your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, and the courts of the State of California, USA have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any right you have to bring a claim where you live.

Before anyone goes near a court, please write to us. Almost everything is faster to fix by email.
