Who we are

Butt Talks is operated by Butt Talks, referred to in these terms as we, us and our. You can reach us at support@butttalkstv.com.

By creating an account, joining the waitlist, downloading the guide, or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

Who can use Butt Talks

You must be at least 13 years old to use Butt Talks. The app asks for your birth year when you sign up, and it will not let you continue if you are younger.

If your birth year means you could be under 18, some things work differently to protect you: you cannot make your poop map public, and your city is not shown to other people. If you are under the age of adulthood where you live, check with a parent or guardian before you subscribe to anything.

You also confirm that you are using the service for yourself, and that the birth year you give is true. Do not photograph or log anyone else. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will close it and erase the data in it.

You may only use Butt Talks if the law where you live allows you to, and if we have not previously closed your account for breaking these terms.

What exists today

The Butt Talks app has been rebuilt and is on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android. What this website offers is the links to both, a free guide, and an early-access list for news about the app.

When you give us your email address, we add it to that list along with the platform you told us you use and which page you came from, and we email you when there is something real to download. We are not promising a launch date, and features described on this site may change before they ship.

You can leave the list at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to support@butttalkstv.com.

Your account

Your account holds sensitive things: your logs, your photographs and your history. Keeping it secure matters more here than it does on most apps.

• You sign in with your email address and a password. Signing in with Apple or Google will be offered once those options are switched on.
• Give us accurate details when you sign up, and keep them up to date.
• Keep your password and your device secure, and do not share your login.
• You are responsible for what happens under your account, unless someone used it without your permission and you told us as soon as you knew.
• Tell us at support@butttalkstv.com if you think someone else has access to your account.
• One person per account. Accounts are not transferable.

Subscriptions and billing

What we charge for, and what it costs:

• Free costs $0. You can log your poops, get a limited number of AI analyses each week, pick your Bristol type yourself any time, see the last 7 days of history and keep a streak, without paying us anything.
• Butt Talks Plus costs $9.99/mo. It unlocks unlimited AI analyses, your full history beyond 7 days, and trends. It is an auto-renewing monthly subscription: it renews for the same price each month until you cancel it. There is no free trial.
• Nurse Wong 1-on-1 costs $49.99/20 minutes. It is booked and paid for on an external booking service, one session at a time, and is not a subscription. See Nurse Wong sessions below.

Butt Talks Plus is sold through Apple or Google

This is the part people get caught by, so it is worth reading twice. You buy Butt Talks Plus inside the app, through the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android. Apple or Google is the merchant for that purchase, so their billing, renewal, cancellation and refund rules apply.

• Your subscription renews automatically through your Apple or Google account, and the store charges you at the start of each month, until you cancel it. Deleting the app, or deleting your Butt Talks account, does not cancel it.
• You manage and cancel it in your App Store subscription settings on iPhone, or in your Google Play subscription settings on Android. The app has a button that takes you there. Cancel at least a day before it renews to avoid the next charge; Plus stays on until the end of the month you paid for.
• Refunds go through Apple or Google, under the store's policy. We cannot issue one, and we cannot overrule the store's decision.
• We never see your card details. We check each purchase with Apple's or Google's servers, and the store tells us only what you subscribed to and when it renews or ends.
• If you get a new phone or reinstall, use Restore purchases in the app to switch Plus back on.

Prices may change. If we change the price of a subscription you already have, Apple will tell you before it takes effect and you can cancel. Taxes may be added depending on where you live. If a renewal payment fails, Plus may be paused until it goes through.

Nurse Wong sessions

A Nurse Wong 1-on-1 booking is a private video session with Nurse Wong RN BSN, who wrote The Power of Pooping. You go through your own logs together and leave with a plan you can actually follow.

The Book Nurse Wong button in the app, and the booking page on this site, both open an external booking service in your browser. Payment and scheduling happen there, under that service's own terms and privacy policy, not inside the app. You do not need Butt Talks Plus to book one; it is a single session, paid for on its own.

A session is paid for in advance and is not refundable. If you do not turn up, the session is not refunded and it is not rescheduled. If you need a different time, use the reschedule link in your confirmation email before the session starts.

Here is what a session is not. It is not a medical consultation, an examination, a diagnosis or a prescription. It does not create a nurse and patient relationship, it is not treatment, and it is not covered by insurance. It is educational coaching about digestive health from someone qualified to talk about it.

You still need your own doctor, and a session is never a reason to delay seeing one. If a session raises something that needs clinical attention, the advice will be to see a clinician, and that advice is the point rather than a disappointment.

Shop links and affiliate disclosure

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. The items in the app's shop, including Nurse Wong's book, are Amazon affiliate links: if you buy through one, Amazon pays us a small commission, and it costs you nothing extra.

The links open on Amazon, and your purchase is between you and Amazon, under Amazon's terms. Prices shown in the app are a guide and may be out of date. A product being in the shop is general information, not medical advice for you, so check with a doctor or pharmacist before taking anything new.

Using Butt Talks: the rules

We ask very little here, and all of it is obvious. Do not use Butt Talks to:

• break the law, or help anyone else break it;
• upload a photograph of another person, or of anybody who has not agreed to it;
• upload sexual content, content involving children, or anything designed to shock rather than to be logged;
• harass, threaten, impersonate or dox anyone, on any of our surfaces;
• fake your streaks, or run more than one account to climb the leaderboards;
• sell supplements, cures or treatments to other members, or pass yourself off as a medical professional;
• scrape, resell or redistribute the service, or use it to build a competing product;
• attack the service: reverse engineer it, bypass its limits, probe its security, or automate access to it without our written agreement;
• upload malware, or anything that would put another member at risk.

Nicknames and profile photos

Your nickname and your avatar, including a profile photo you upload, are public. Other people see them on leaderboards and on your public profile, so they have to be fit for everyone.

We have zero tolerance for abusive, sexual, hateful or illegal content in a nickname or a profile photo.

• That includes nudity, photos of stool or of anyone else, slurs, threats, and names or pictures that mock or target a person or a group.
• We may remove a nickname or photo, or close an account, without notice if we believe it breaks this rule.
• A filter blocks some words in nicknames, but it will not catch everything, and passing it does not make something acceptable.

There is no report button in the app. If you see a nickname or photo that breaks these rules, email support@butttalkstv.com with the nickname and where you saw it, and we will look at it. You can also hide that person from your own leaderboards straight away in the app.

Your content and the permission we need

Your photographs, your logs, your check-ins and your notes are yours. Uploading them to Butt Talks does not change who owns them, and we do not claim them.

To run the service at all, we do need your permission to handle them. So you give us a limited, worldwide, royalty free permission to store, copy, transmit and display your content, and to send a stool photo to our third-party AI provider (Google Gemini, through OpenRouter) for classification, strictly so that we can provide Butt Talks to you.

For your stool photos, logs and check-ins, that permission exists for one reason: to show you your own data back and to analyse it at your request. It does not let us publish your content, sell it, show it to anyone else, or use it in marketing. It is not a licence to train models. The specific promises we make about photographs are set out in the privacy policy and we will not contradict them here.

Your public profile is different by design. For your nickname, your avatar or profile photo, your streaks and your city, the permission also covers showing them to other people on leaderboards, public profiles and maps, as the privacy policy describes. If you make your poop map public, it covers showing it in the rounded, delayed form set out there.

You confirm that you have the right to upload whatever you upload. If you send us feedback about the product, we may act on it freely without owing you anything for it.

What belongs to us

The Butt Talks name and logo, Butty, the app, this website, the guide, the courses, our copy, our illustrations and the software behind all of it belong to us or to the people we licence them from. Using the service does not transfer any of that to you.

You may use the service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy our branding, pass our material off as your own, or republish our content without asking first.

Ending your account

You can stop at any time. Deleting your account in the app closes it permanently: you cannot sign in to it again, and your profile is removed from leaderboards, public profiles and maps. Your data is kept, not erased. If you want it erased, email support@butttalkstv.com, as the privacy policy explains.

Deleting your account does not cancel Butt Talks Plus. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings as well, or the store will keep billing you.

We can suspend or close an account, without notice, if it breaks these terms, if it puts other members or the service at risk, or if we are required to by law. If we close a paid account for something other than a breach by you, we will tell you, so you can cancel and ask Apple for a refund of the unused time.

We can also stop offering the service, or a part of it. If we do, we will give reasonable notice, and you can ask us for a copy of your data first.

The sections on your content, our intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law survive the end of your account.

Disclaimers

Butt Talks is provided as it is and as it is available. We work hard on it, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or available everywhere.

In particular, the AI classification is a best effort reading of an image. It can be wrong, which is why you can always change it. A Bristol type, a colour, a trend line or a flag is an observation about what you recorded, not a clinical finding, and you should treat it that way. We do not warrant that the analysis is accurate, complete or suitable for any medical purpose, because it is not a medical device and has not been cleared or approved as one by any regulator.

To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some places do not allow that, in which case this section applies to you only as far as your local law permits, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for lost profits or lost data, or for any decision you made about your health because of something the service showed you.

Where we are liable, our total liability for all claims connected to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or fifty US dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else your local consumer law protects.

Changes to these terms

We will update these terms as the product changes, and the version on this page is always the current one. The last updated date at the top tells you when it last changed.

If a change is significant, for example a change to pricing, to how we handle your photographs, to what is public, or to your rights, we will tell you before it takes effect by email or in the app. Carrying on using Butt Talks after that means you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can close your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, and the courts of the State of California, USA have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any right you have to bring a claim where you live.

Before anyone goes near a court, please write to us. Almost everything is faster to fix by email.
