Thousands of people, one deeply unglamorous topic.

Tracking your own gut alone is useful. Doing it with a few thousand other people who have stopped being weird about it is better. The Butt Talks community is where the logs turn into conversation, and where somebody has almost certainly had the exact week you are having.

A grid of people on a group video call

It is free. Here is how you join.

Joining the community costs nothing. There is no membership fee, no trial, and nothing to buy on this page.

  1. Download the Butt Talks app, or get on the early-access list below.
  2. Open the app and find the community section.
  3. Tap the Discord invite link inside the app. That link is the only door in, which is how we keep the room made of actual members.
  4. Read the house rules below, say hello, and post whenever you are ready.

The app is being rebuilt and is not in the stores yet, so the invite goes out with it. Get on the list and you will hear the day it lands.

What you get

Discord

The main room. A running chat for the day-to-day: wins, setbacks, questions at two in the morning, and the occasional photo nobody else wants.

Zoom

Live group calls with Nurse Wong RN BSN. Bring the question you would not ask at a dinner party.

Facebook

A private group for people who would rather not learn a new app to talk about their gut.

Guest speakers

Dietitians, GI nurses and the occasional gastroenterologist, on the record, answering questions from the group. Real credentials, no supplements to sell you.

About the paid membership

The chat is free and stays free. A paid membership with scheduled group calls and a guest speaker series is planned, and its price is not set. We are not going to invent a number to fill this space. When it opens, the people on the list hear first.

Medical disclaimer: nobody here is your doctor

Butt Talks tracks patterns and flags changes worth discussing with a clinician. It does not diagnose. It never replaces seeing a doctor.

Members of this community are not medical professionals, and nothing posted here is medical advice. What you read is one person describing their own experience. It is not a diagnosis, not a treatment plan, and not a reason to change your medication or cancel an appointment.

That holds even when a post sounds confident, even when several people agree, and even when a guest speaker is a clinician. A guest session is general education for a group, not care for you specifically. Only someone who can examine you can tell you what is going on.

If you see blood, if pain is severe, if a change lasts more than a couple of weeks, or if anything frightens you, see a doctor. In an emergency, call your local emergency number rather than posting.

The house rules

This community works because people say things out loud that they have never told anyone. That only holds if the room is safe, so these rules are short and we mean all of them.

  • Nobody gets laughed at. Jokes about poop are the whole point. Jokes at the expense of a member who just shared something hard are not. If you cannot tell the difference, ask.
  • No medical advice, ever. Share what happened to you. Do not tell another member what they have, what to take, or whether to skip an appointment. Point people at a clinician instead.
  • Nothing you post leaves the room. No screenshots, no reposting, no naming a member anywhere else. What gets shared here stays here.
  • Photos go in the marked channels. Some people want detail and some people are eating. Keep images where they are expected, behind the spoiler tags, and never post a photo of anyone but yourself.
  • Nothing for sale. No supplements, no cleanses, no cures, no affiliate links, no recruiting for your programme. Members are here for support, not a funnel.
  • Do not claim credentials you do not have. If you are a clinician, say so plainly and stay in your lane. If you are not, do not imply that you are.
  • No harassment, hate or bigotry. That includes slurs, pile-ons, unwanted direct messages and anything targeting who a member is. This one has no warning attached to it.
  • Assume the person is doing their best. Most people arrive embarrassed. Read the kindest version of what they wrote before you reply.

Moderation and what happens when a rule is broken

The community is moderated by the Butt Talks team and by volunteer moderators from the membership. Moderators are members, not clinicians, and they will not answer medical questions either.

  • A quiet word for most first problems. Often somebody simply did not know the rule.
  • Removing a post when it breaks a rule, with a note saying which one.
  • A temporary mute when a thread is getting heated and needs to cool down.
  • Removal from the community for harassment, hate, selling treatments, sharing another member outside the room, or posting someone else in an image.

Harassment, hate and anything involving a child skip straight to removal, with no warning. Decisions are made by people, so if you think we got one wrong, write to support@butttalkstv.com and a human will look at it again.

Behaviour in the community is also covered by the acceptable use section of our terms.

Privacy inside the community

Be clear about what is private and what is not. Your logs and your photographs in the app are private to your account and are covered by our privacy policy. Nothing from your account is ever posted to the community by us, and no member can see it.

Anything you post in the community yourself is different. It is visible to every other member, and once it is out there we cannot unsay it. The rooms run on Discord, Zoom and Facebook, so those companies handle that content under their own policies and their own terms.

  • Use a name you are comfortable with. Plenty of members do not use their real one.
  • Share as little identifying detail as you like. Nobody needs your surname to help.
  • What another member posts is theirs. Do not screenshot it, quote it elsewhere, or bring it up outside the room.
  • Group calls are not recorded unless we say so at the start of the call, and you can keep your camera off.

You can leave at any time. Leaving the community does not touch your Butt Talks account, and deleting your Butt Talks account does not automatically remove posts you made on a third-party platform. Ask us and we will help you get them taken down.

How to report a problem

If something is wrong, tell us. You will not be the difficult one for raising it.

  • Use the report option on the post, which reaches the moderators fastest.
  • Or message a moderator directly in the room.
  • Or, if it involves a moderator, if it is serious, or if you would rather it stayed off the platform, email support@butttalkstv.com.

Tell us what happened, where, and roughly when. We aim to acknowledge a report within two working days, we keep the reporter confidential wherever we can, and we will tell you what we did about it. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first, then tell us.

These community rules are effective from 4 September 2026.

Start with the app.

The invite lives inside the app, so the useful first step is the same either way: get in line, and the door opens with the download.
